Getting To Know Me...

Hello. My name is Katniss Everdeen. No, not Catnip. Only Gale can call me that. I live in the Seam (pretty much the armpit of the universe). It's actually in District 12. Yes, I live in the poorest neighborhood of the poorest district. Oh well. I'm just grateful that I have survived this long. Mostly because without me, I worry my sister (Prim) would starve. Good thing my father taught me how to hunt and gather before he died. It has saved our lives. I am a pro at feeding my family these days. I know everything that is edible and everything that isn't. Most importantly though, I know how to keep the Peacekeepers happy so I don't get into trouble. The Reaping is coming soon. I wonder which unfortunate family will lose a child. One thing I do know...it won't be Prim.
